Freezing things has really helped me waste a lot less produce. If I'm not going to use something I clean it, chop it up and freeze it to use in smoothies. My kids will drink almost any smoothie I make and never question what's in there.
Yesterday afternoon we made a yummy smoothie using all the perfect summer fruit I have been freezing. I had some left over, so I poured it in a couple cups, stuck a popsicle stick in them and froze them overnight. Now the kids are enjoying them for breakfast this morning. I had to sit the cups in a little warm water for about a minute when i took them out of the freezer and they just slid right out of the cups.
Fun way to make breakfast a little special on some of these hot summer days. I used just fruits (mango, pineapple, peaches and blueberries) veggies (spinach), Fage plain Greek yogurt, ground flax seed, and water.
They are happy, I am happy and the kitchen is still clean :)
