Basil Parmasean Orzo

This is a great side dish to serve with grilled meats. This is one of our families favorite side dishes in in the summer time.  It's fast, easy, and very flavorful!  The kids love it too!!!

Serves 2-3 adults
1 cup orzo
1/2 tablespoon olive oil & 1/2 tablespoon butter (you may use all oil or all butter if you prefer)
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste
1 tablespoon finely chopped basil

Cook orzo according to package directions in salted water.  Drain and immediately place pasta back into pan.  Put oil and butter right on top of cooked hot orzo.  Add garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Gently stir pasta with a wooden spoon.  Add Parmesan cheese and chopped basil and give it one more gentle stir.  Serve right away.
